Betty Anne McDermott Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Betty Anne McDermott Memorial Scholarship Fund assists youth players and families that face financial hardship and would otherwise be unable to play. Formerly the Hooligans Scholarship Fund, this program was inspired by Betty Anne McDermott as a way to help those less fortunate. Her entire life was spent in service of others and always prioritized the needs of others before her own. Throughout the years, Betty Anne anonymously sponsored countless players. She also assisted, and participated in, all fundraising activities and events.

Her legacy is one of kindness and service. This program will continue to honor her life of compassion and selflessness by furthering her life's work of giving to all in need.

All donations will go directly to Hooligans Baseball 501c3, a federally registered not-for-profit organization.

All donations can be made by clicking the link below and/or mailing a check made out to the Betty Anne McDermott Memorial Scholarship Fund to: 801 Loma Colorado Blvd. 87124

NEW PARTNERSHIP!

Lady Hooligans and MAC Elite Fastpitch has partnered with Athletics Mercado Softball to bring one of the nations premier programs to New Mexico.  As hard as it was to say goodbye to the navy, kelly, and gold we are extremely excited about what the future holds. The Athletics Mercado mission, track record, and proven model made this decision an easy one. We strongly feel that our values and vision align and will give New Mexico girls the best opportunity to succeed!

David Mercado and Brian Tidd have developed a proven model to get their players, coaches and teams to excel and compete at the highest level.  As an Academy we push to develop our players to work harder, play smarter and Win Championships, this is who we are.  The AM FOUNDATION has been built by dedication, determination, development, and accountability from our elite coaching staff and our past and current players. The strive to be the BEST and the constant daily grind of our athletes has empowered the AM Academy to be one of the best Academy's in the Nation. We have and will continue develop these young athletes to be placed in top College programs throughout the Nation. We are very proud of our traditions and the development of some of the finest athletes in the Country.

"FAMILY we are, TOGETHER we can, CHAMPIONS we will be."

TRYOUT INFORMATION

Hello Hooligan Parents and Future Hooligans!

A few changes are coming to the program and I wanted you to hear it from me before it gets blasted all over social media and the like. Many of you may have heard the rumors that we will be partnering with ABA, well those rumors are true. Over the last few months, I have been meeting with ABA to discuss how a merger and partnership would work. I am happy to say that we have figured things out and both programs are extremely excited for what this will do for New Mexico baseball.

This merger will not take full effect until the Fall of the 2024 season. However, starting in the Spring, Hooligans and ABA will be working side-by-side. This will include running tryouts together, collaborating on coaching strategies and training, and bringing on new staff that will work with all players and parents.

I have met with coaches and filled them in, but just to address some questions that I know you will all have:

  • Hooligan’s players will not see a price increase in the Spring or Fall
  • Your teams are not going to be split up
  • Practices will still be held at the MAC and in Rio Rancho (weekend field practices may move to Albuquerque)
  • All youth teams will still be called Hooligans (this includes ABA teams come next Fall)
  • Mike McDermott (Hooligans) and Mike Foote (ABA) will head up this new program

All current players will receive Spring commitment paperwork at the end of next week. If this is completed and submitted prior to tryouts then you have secured your player’s spot in the program for the Spring season. If this is not completed by tryouts, then we will treat that as an open roster spot and the player will have to attend tryouts to be considered.

Once tryouts are completed, we will begin rolling out our new training a bit at a time. Please, bear with us as we go through this transition, there will be bumps in the road but we will get everything ironed out.

Go Hooligans!
